The birth of a child presents many feelings. It is something you may want to shout out to the world. A joy that wants to be shared; that others may feel the moment of life. A new life is an amazing moment; everybody embrace it.
Åt the same time the I feel a desire to lock out the world around, to still all the motion, all the hurry. The desire to pause everything, to live in the moment for ever. It presents an acute awareness that each moment passes and does so much more quickly that you could ever want. That each moment really does count. Never so much as when life has just been born, that a first breath existed in that moment. The experience of air and skin and touch and love. Firsts.
We have been gifted a healthy baby girl. She is, in every sense of the dreamings of a prospective parent, perfect. Our little gumnut baby.
