We've been gathering small gifts around our house of late.
The raspberries are ripening a few each day and are welcome treats to waiting mouths. We have two plants in the front yard and, at the moment, we are able to pick just a handful or three every few days. How long this will last I don't know but we're sure to enjoy it while it does. (Spring just thought she needed to give the lavender picking a show too.)
Figs, yeah. Now these are delicious and in previous years we've had so much fruit I've had to wrack my brains to figure out how to not waste them, however last year the fruit grew then didn't ripen and this year seems there are lots of fruit but I'm not convinced it's all going to ripen, again. We have been fortunate to get enough to be eaten fresh though. I really enjoyed this picking session 'cause Mama climbed the tree. Yup, way up there, bare feet throwing fruit into the waiting arms of small peoples. How happy I could be. (Little people thought it was kinda cool too. Dada on the other hand had his reservations. I'm alright. The person needed for this job must be agile, strong, capable, discerning, brave, I think that describes me....) Ahem.
There has been making of sorts here and there. This is soap we played with. It's very simple organic melt and pour so not much chemistry here. Just colour, aroma and decorative flowers. We used the pestle and mortar to squash scent from some lavender, some natural food colouring and then added the flowers for decoration.
And voila! Look at those colours. Just right if your a four-year-old girl I guess.
Absenteeism: Hmmm, sorry I was away last week. This space just never quite reached the top of that long Mama's list.
